The roof is finished and they are doing the plasterboard on the ceiling. The loft is powered, the lights work. YAY. And the loft bathroom tiling us underway. The loft also has doors with handles. I quite like the handles.
This week we see lots of work on the floors. There is a bit more wall and work on the windows. Seeing the rooms get a floor makes is start to feel more like a house than a wreck. The whole ground floor is getting a slab because we are tiling throughout. We were told that if we didn't do that then the difference between wood and concrete floors would be quite noticeable. It is really hot here this week. I am impressed that anything is getting done in this weather. The pigeons are gone from the window sill, (I spotted them on the roof) and the window in the stairwell is now in place.
The weather has been frightful, which allows us to notice that the house does not leak.... Actually, its quite comfortable, though you can hear the rain on the roof in the loft, but it is isn't that loud. Also I managed to do my Christmas shopping before lockdown was called. And we got the tree in too. And the link to the cute cat video. https://photos.app.goo.gl/ 5FPm2a7VLZR6edUj9
The bricks have arrived for the building of the ground floor extension. The builder wanted to get all the bricks at once, so there wouldn't be any colour variation between batches. Unfortunately they couldn't be delivered to the back of the house, so builders have had to take the time to move them by wheelbarrow. I have "fond" memories of doing that once with paving stones at my parents house. Also the loft work has progressed. They have finished the roof, added a gutter and painted and edged the brickwork. Inside they are still adding plasterboard. This is the eves storage space for keeping spare suitcases. My daughter thinks it is a secret compartment.
