Sewage drama and other holes
The digger arrived this week. It is a cute little thing on little tractor treads. The builders proceeded to start digging holes for the foundation of the side extension.
Unfortunately during this, a sewage pipe got cracked. This in itself is not terrible. But it then started leaking water all over. Apparently the pipe is supposed to be mostly empty with all the black water drained into the sewers. So Thames Water was called and they came out promptly. They found the manhole on our property and fortunately it was just to the left of all the bricks that had been stacked in the back garden.
They found the blockage and the issue was resolved in a day. The new drain has been built. It was in the plan to move that anyway and concrete has been poured for foundations. Not just that but there are now bricks and the start of a wall.

Wow! You (almost) have a house!
